Most often it is not the situation, but how we think about the situation that causes our feelings. How we think about situations is based on what we have learned and experienced in the past. Over time we may begin to react in ways that do not help us, and start feeling stuck and unhappy.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is an evidence-based practice that helps you make positive changes by helping you change the way you think. Through therapy, you can overcome patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving that are holding you back. In this way, you can more quickly and easily reach your personal and professional goals.
I create a safe and supportive place where you can gain a deeper understanding of yourself and learn new ways to cope with challenging situations and feelings. Participating in therapy can provide you with the tools needed to improve your overall wellbeing and quality of life.
I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, with graduate and postgraduate focus in neuropsychology. My early training involved providing cognitive therapy to clients struggling with anxiety, depression, guilt, anger management, and major life changes.
Most of my career has focused on helping people understand changes in thinking, behavior, and mood that can stem from brain injury or disease. A large part of that involves understanding how a person’s history contributes to their current struggles. I have also spent time working with veterans and other clients who have experienced significant traumas. I enjoy meeting people where they are in their lives, and helping them move forward in the way that is best for them.
My family is the most important thing in my life. To relax, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, but also alone time is essential for me to be at my best. Working in my garden, walking, painting, yoga and meditation help me recharge.

She completed the APA-accredited Psychology Internship training program and Postdoctoral Residency at the Orlando VA Healthcare System.
Dr. Ivey is trained in the following evidence-based psychotherapies (EBPs): Cognitive Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I know you’re stressed and exhausted while trying to keep up with the world’s go go go trials, trying to do it all perfectly. This “hustle” mentality makes all of us prone to mistakes and poor decisions. Your mind is overthinking at such a high pace by now that you no longer know where to find the off button, or recall when you turned it on in the first place. Trust me, I’ve been there, and in that dark place is where you start to feel worried and fearful about the future because you don’t feel in control of the now. Sound familiar?
If it does, your time is now! All feelings have a constructive response. However, we usually tend to distract ourselves in an attempt to solve our ongoing pain. The problem with any distraction is, they don’t solve the cause of the issue, and they don’t last long.
Through Cognitive Hypnotherapy we can go back to when the emotional imbalances began, and when they increased. By guiding your subconscious self to heal from the past, meaningful change takes place. Once it’s handled from back then, it can no longer affect you the same way again, here in the present.
It’s simple but not easy. It’s not easy because it takes your decision, commitment, and consistency to be successful with this powerful work. If we can count on your best, then we will take care of the rest. Now it’s your turn! What are you waiting for?
My education and credentials include a BSc in Computer Science from Antillean Adventist University (2010), and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Walla Walla University (2012).
I have worked closely with veterans and civilians, the young and the senior, struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and guilt among other dysregulated emotions. I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist through the International Board of Clinical Hypnotherapy. I am also a fully trained clinician on the clinically acclaimed modality of Hypnotherapy.
In sitting across from me in a room, you will find transparency and consistency. Who you see is who I am wherever and whomever I am with. I value resolve, transparency, and consistency above all else. I invite you to reflect back to me those same principles, and as you do, you will achieve an amount of healing and restoration you would have never imagined otherwise.
When I am not working, I like to spend time recharging alone first and then with my immediate circle of friends, especially hanging out with my best friend. I also spend time watching anime, playing Japanese role-playing games like Final Fantasy, reading powerful psychoeducational books, and listening to a range of high quality podcasts. Additionally, I hit the gym, spend time meditating, and stay in touch with my spirituality, not because I want to but because I need to, as the strongest and wisest version of myself.
