Practice policies
Practice policies
How appointments are scheduled, what happens if you cancel or miss a session, and how to reach the practice between visits.
Appointments
The standard meeting time for psychotherapy is 50 minutes. You can ask for a different length. A change has to be discussed with your therapist ahead of time so the time can be scheduled.
Clients agree to these policies during intake. Insurance, when a plan applies, is listed on Fees, Payment and Cancellation.
Cancellations and rescheduling
Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before the scheduled start. That time is held only for you. Notice has to be received at least 24 hours in advance.
| Scenario | Policy |
|---|---|
| Cancellation or rescheduling at least 24 hours before the appointment | No charge for the unused time. |
| Cancellation or rescheduling less than 24 hours before the appointment | You are responsible for the entire fee. |
| Missed appointment | You are responsible for the entire fee. |
| Late arrival | You may lose some of the session time. |
A $10 service charge applies to any check returned for any reason.
Contact between sessions
If you need to reach your therapist between sessions, leave a voicemail. Therapists are often not immediately available. We will try to return your call within 24 hours.
In-person sessions are preferable to phone sessions. Phone sessions are available if you are out of town, sick, or need additional support.
If a true emergency arises, call 911 or go to a local emergency room. Do not use voicemail, email, or text for an emergency.
Email, text, and telehealth
We cannot ensure the confidentiality of email or text messages. Email or text may be used for scheduling and cancellations. Please do not use them to discuss therapeutic content or to ask for help in an emergency. A reply may not be immediate.
If you and your therapist use phone or video for some or all of your care, you may withhold or withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect your right to future care, and it does not risk the loss of program benefits you would otherwise have. Confidentiality protections still apply. You may have access to information transmitted during a telehealth consultation, and copies are available for a reasonable fee. Identifiable images or information from a telehealth visit are not shared with researchers or other entities without your consent.
Video appointments use Telehealth by SimplePractice. The risks, the emergency rule, and the agreement not to share the appointment link are in Telehealth Consent.
Minors
If you are a minor, your parents may be legally entitled to some information about your therapy. Your therapist will discuss with you and your parents what information is appropriate for them to receive, and which issues are more appropriately kept confidential.
Ending care
Ending care is easier with a closing process. How long that takes depends on the length and intensity of the work.
A therapist may end treatment after discussing it with you if the psychotherapy is not being used effectively, or if you are in default on payment. The relationship will not be ended without first discussing the reasons. If therapy ends for any reason, or you ask for another therapist, we will give you a list of qualified psychotherapists. You may also choose someone on your own.
If you do not schedule an appointment for three consecutive weeks, and no other arrangement was made in advance, the professional relationship is considered discontinued.

Social media
Revibe Therapy does not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on social networking sites, including Facebook and LinkedIn. Adding clients as contacts can compromise confidentiality and blur the therapeutic relationship. Questions about this can be raised in session.
